Jun 09, 2001 - Yakima Speedway

The Twin Motor Sports racing team was scheduled to race South Sound Speedway, but with our Northwest weather patterns, it was predicting rain in our forecast. So, the crew and drivers packed up and went to Yakima.

It was a late night for Twin Motor Sports racing team. The Late Model Class took to the track at 10:40 p.m. after introductions; the green flag was thrown at 10:55 p.m.

Since the team chose to go to Yakima Speedway, they had a lot of work to do. The car was set up for South Sound Speedway, a 3/8-mile track and Yakima Speedway a ˝ mile track. Practices were slow. They decided to put new “2quik” dual adjustable shocks on the car. By qualifying time, Angela took her #30 ZNETIX Chevrolet Monte Carlo to the track and putting her aggressive hat on, tried to put the car down with a good qualifying time. Unfortunately, she could not keep the car down on the track; it had a bad push. Her first qualifying lap was a 19.986, her second lap was a 19.917 putting her at the back of the pack.

When the green flag was thrown, Angela pushed the car to its potential. After a caution on lap 3, the #30 car was in the 11th position. Angela continued to run the race without incident. By lap 57, Angela was clocked at a 20.30, 3/10th’s off the leaders.

On lap 65, the leader laps Angela. The race is completed 10 laps later; Angela finishes in the 10th position.

Comments:
Crew Chief Al Once we got the car working for Angela, there were only two cars that were faster than her, and that was the first and second place cars. She was on the same straight away as the third place car, running 3/10's off the leader. Good job Angela.
Comments from Driver: We were not any good in practice or in qualifying. We could not get the car to handle, it had to much of a push. Al Changed the sway bar, and then re-adjusted the shocks just before race time. We ran decent, and could race with other drivers.
